The Newest Developer at Blow Media

Saying that, it’s already been a year! Looking back, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone and just how much I’ve learned and developed during that time.

Like any new job, there’s a lot to take in from the start different processes, new software, new people, and much more. I hit the ground running with my first project, Derma Beauty Clinic, which was a great introduction to how the team works and the standards we aim for.

From a technical point of view, my time at BlowMedia has pushed me to grow in areas I hadn’t fully explored before. I’ve become far more comfortable using the Terminal as part of my everyday workflow and gained valuable experience working with Bitbucket. I have to admit that working with the Terminal took a little time to get used to, as it was a major change from previous processes — but like anything, with time and practice, it became second nature.

Alongside this, I’ve learned new processes and approaches that have changed the way I build and structure code. Speaking with the team and seeing how they build elements has really opened my eyes to different ways of thinking and working, and it’s helped me become a more efficient and write cleaner code.

Another big aspect I was looking for during my job hunt was the opportunity to work fully remotely which is exactly what I found at BlowMedia. Over the last year, I’ve massively enjoyed working remotely for many reasons, but the biggest benefit has been a better work–life balance. Having more personal time and the ability to eat better has had a really positive impact on both my wellbeing and my productivity.
